I’ve been living in Westchester almost for 25 years, but it wasn’t until recently that I walked inside the oldest, largest pet cemetery in the U.S. for the first time.

Hartsdale Canine Cemetery is a historic and revered final resting place for beloved pets. Established in 1896, it holds the distinction of being the oldest and largest pet cemetery in the United States. The cemetery is nestled in a serene and picturesque setting, providing a tranquil environment for pet owners to memorialize their furry companions. The pet cemetery offers a range of burial options, including individual plots, communal areas, and even mausoleums for those seeking a more elaborate tribute. Over the years, it has become a place of solace and reflection, where grieving pet owners can find comfort in knowing that their cherished animals are laid to rest with care and dignity. The cemetery also features various monuments, statues, and beautifully landscaped gardens, creating a peaceful atmosphere for visitors to reminisce and honor the enduring bond between humans and their pets.
